Epic haikus explaining all six parts of speech

This is brilliant. Don’t remember who showed me this, or where it came from–the googles have not helped me solve that mystery–so if somebody finds the source, please shout. Twitter? Reddit? Don’t know. What I do know is this: I could not love these haikus more.

We start with the noun,

king of people, places, things and

the realm of ideas

Articles are kind.

They set up the noun for the

readers to enjoy

Interjections cruel,

the interrupters of all,

they exclaim loudly

The loud verb shouts out:

“Action, state of being, that is me!

Bow to your ruler!”

Modifying nouns,

the adjective hunts them all,

changing their meaning.

When the nouns are gone,

pronouns substitute for them,

however paler.
